This man just returned from Bangkok in the midst of a military coup, here're his reflections....

Came across this in Facebook, thought it's worth sharing....

"So this Bangkok trip was quite an experience, caught in the midst of a military coup and a curfew imposed.

Deeply amused with how international news were sensationalizing everything, which contradicted the peace and order before our eyes. No sights of rowdy (or bloody for that matter) protests in the city area over the 5 days, and the only time we saw any armed military personnel were this two kind souls helping to push a taxi which had broken down in the middle of a busy road to the side.

The reactions and sentiments to all that's happening in Thailand right now is but a manifestation of how pathetically ignorant people have become with the prevalence of social media nowadays. Suddenly, everyone became a scholar of Thai politics overnight just by reading online articles/commentaries and were quick to jump in and offer their take on things - who was right and who was in the wrong, what should/can be done.

I say, leave things to the Thais to resolve themselves. It is afterall, a family issue. Many a times we have that one aunt who barges in with over zealous comments when you have an argument with the mom, and many a times you just wish you can step on that aunt's face to shut her up.

And the other group of people we encountered were those who simply needed to know if they can proceed with their holidays.

So here - yes, you can still do your shopping and massages (before the curfew kicks in); yes, you can still do your bars/clubs visiting (if you know how); yes, it is perfectly safe for you to walk down the streets of Bangkok. All these possible, only if you know how to make things out of situations, Bangkok or out, military coup or not. People get caught in situations daily, and it's how we react to them. There shouldn't be an over reliance on other people to make your decisions if you do not know how to do your own planning or take care of yourself. We can tell you that everything's fine today, but the same can't be promised for tomorrow, a couple of weeks later, or a few months down the road.

Stay safe, wherever you are, whatever you do.

Hoping for the best for the people in Thailand. Genuinely sincere and one of the simplest and nicest people around."

God bless Thailand.
